Through systematic identification of the needs and priorities of the Iraqi society and work on finding the sound mechanisms to benefit from the available funding sources, Al-Muraqib foundation seeks to be the leading Iraqi development institution in the areas of democracy and human rights. Its contribution would distinctively lead to the development of capacities of youth, preservation of their heritage and identity, supporting their living culture and building civil society.

Founded in 2018, Al-Muraqib for Democracy and Human Rights is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, nongovernmental organization dedicated to advancing democracy, human rights, and civic engagement in Iraq.
Our name, Al-Muraqib (which translates to "The Observer"), symbolizes our commitment to transparency, active civic participation, and democratic oversight.
Rooted in the principles of accountability, participation, and social justice, our mission is to empower youth, advocate for human rights, influence policies, and foster democratic reforms.
By mobilizing communities, building leadership capacities, and providing knowledge resources, we work toward creating a more just, democratic, and inclusive Iraq.

Al-Muraqib Foundation we commit to investing in Iraqi youth, protecting democracy and human rights, and preserving our collective spirit. We take pride in what we do to improve the performance of many Iraqi youths in the areas of democracy and human rights by giving them opportunities and allowing to enrich their society.
The headquarters of Al-Muraqib Foundation is situated in Baghdad. Our Offices are mainly located in Al-Karrada and Al- A’miriya districts, with about 50 volunteers working on programs that cover a wide range of areas in Baghdad. Nevertheless, we intend to have our programs and activities cover other provinces of Iraq as soon as possible.
Our approach is based on empowerment, education, advocacy, and institutional development, ensuring that democracy in Iraq is sustainable, participatory, and responsive to the needs of the people.
